How to use the Twitter transcript generator
X is still Twitter to most people, and both kinds of link work. Three steps:
- Copy the link to the post. Tap Share, then Copy link. x.com and twitter.com links both work, as long as they contain /status/.
- Paste it above and press Get the script.
- Take the X transcript. It arrives in about 5 to 30 seconds. Copy it for ChatGPT, or save it as TXT, SRT or VTT.
You don't need an X account.
Which X posts work
Public posts that contain a video up to 10 minutes long. These can't be read from a link:
- X Spaces. Live audio rooms aren't video posts.
- Protected accounts. Only approved followers can see their posts.
- Posts without a video. There is no audio to transcribe.
- Deleted posts and videos longer than 10 minutes.

Twitter transcript or X captions
X captions are often missing, or burned into the video where you can't copy them. A Twitter transcript gives you the words as real text in two views. The timestamped view shows when each line was said, so you can cite the exact moment. The plain-text view joins the lines into one block for notes and posts.
Downloads: TXT for writing, SRT for editors such as Premiere and CapCut, and VTT for web players. You can also search inside the X transcript. Whisper speech recognition detects the spoken language, and the X transcript stays in that language. We don't translate it.

Tips for a cleaner Twitter transcript
- Clear speech works best. Loud music, crowd noise or people talking over each other lower accuracy.
- Check names and numbers before you quote them. Speech recognition can misspell handles and brand names.
- Use the post link, not the profile link. It has to be the /status/ link of the post itself.
- One link per video. In a thread, each video post has its own link. Paste them one at a time to get a transcript of each.
- Music-only clips come back with a "no speech" message, and that X transcript isn't charged.

Can I transcribe a video without captions?
Yes. We transcribe the audio itself, so the video doesn't need captions.

No. Only public posts work, and only videos you own or are authorized to process. Posts from protected accounts can't be opened from a link, and you won't be charged.
Can I transcribe X Spaces or live broadcasts?
No. Only videos in posts are supported. Spaces and live broadcasts aren't.
