How to use the RedNote transcript generator
It works on RedNote (Xiaohongshu, 小红书) video notes. You don't need a RedNote account. Three steps:
- Tap Share, then Copy link on the video note, in the RedNote app or on the website.
- Paste the link above and press Get the script.
- Take the RedNote transcript. It arrives in about 5 to 30 seconds. Copy it for ChatGPT, or download it as TXT, SRT or VTT.
Why you need the Share link, not the address bar
This is the most common reason a RedNote link fails. RedNote only opens a note for people who aren't logged in when the link carries a share token, and only the Share button adds that token. A link copied from the browser's address bar usually doesn't have it, so we can't open the note.
Links that work look like one of these:
- A short link: xhslink.com/…
- A full link with the token: xiaohongshu.com/explore/…?xsec_token=… (rednote.com links work the same way)
If your link is missing the token, we tell you before anything runs, so you never lose a credit to it. The note also has to be a public video note up to 10 minutes long. Image notes have no audio to transcribe.
Xiaohongshu transcripts in the original language
We make the transcript from the audio with Whisper speech recognition, which detects the language automatically. Mandarin comes back as a Mandarin Xiaohongshu transcript, and notes in Cantonese, English, Japanese or Korean come back in those languages. We don't translate. For English, press Copy for ChatGPT and ask it to translate the RedNote transcript.
What's in a RedNote transcript
The timestamped view puts the time in front of each line of the transcript, which makes it easy to find a product name or a step in a tutorial. The plain-text view joins the lines into one block for notes and documents. You can search inside the transcript in either view.
The transcript downloads as TXT for notes, or as SRT and VTT subtitle files you can load into a video editor or player with your own copy of the clip.

A failed transcript is never charged, whether the note is private, deleted, an image note or has no speech.

How do I get a RedNote transcript?

Why does it ask for a link from the Share button?
RedNote only opens note links that carry the token its Share button adds. A link copied from the browser's address bar doesn't have it, so it won't work. xhslink.com short links and full share links both do.
Is RedNote the same as Xiaohongshu?
Yes. RedNote is the English name of Xiaohongshu (小红书). Share links from xiaohongshu.com, rednote.com and xhslink.com all work.
Does it work for image notes?
No. Only video notes have audio to transcribe. Image-only notes have nothing for us to turn into text.
Will the RedNote transcript be in Chinese?
The RedNote transcript comes back in the language that was spoken, usually Mandarin on RedNote. We don't translate it, but you can press Copy for ChatGPT and ask it to translate.
Does it work on private notes?
No. Only public notes work, and only ones you own or are authorized to process. Private notes can't be opened from a link, and you won't be charged.
How long can the video be?
